Greenbrier River Trail

West Virginia's beautiful Greenbrier River Trail is one of America's premier rail trails, and is popular with bicyclists, hikers, horseback riders, and cross country skiers. E bikes are allowed on this trail. It is the longest trail of its kind in West Virginia, with the river flowing north to south, from Cass to Caldwell. The trails mellow one percent grade and numerous access points make it accessible to bikers and hikers of all abilities. Pick up a map at any of the Pocahontas Visitor Centers.

Seneca State Forest

The Seneca State Forest offers numerous biking opportunities with more than 12,000 acres of secluded woodland. Exploring this vast forest may be done by biking or hiking any of the12 challenging trails or the nearby Allegheny and Greenbrier River trails, which run through and can be accessed from the forest. Grab a map at the park office before you leave.

Cranberry Backcountry

With miles of moderate to technical rides, easy beginner trails, gentle grades, and the steeps of Kennison Mountain, this area is a biking dream. These routes allow you to bike along the boundary of the largest Forest Service Wilderness east of the Mississippi, including the unique Cranberry Glades. You'll experience the beauty of a deeper lusher forest that can't be found at other areas. A visit to the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center is a great way to start your adventure. 

Gauley Mountain Tea Creek Trail System

This iconic trail system has 12 trails totaling 44 miles consisting of hand cut trails, old rail beds, and skid grades. Roots, technical rock gardens, steep climbs, and descents make these trails generally more difficult.  Hardwood and spruce forests, rhododendron tunnels, pristine streams, and scenic vistas make this some of the best riding in West Virginia.

Snowshoe Bike Park

The Snowshoe Mountain Bike Park is nationally recognized as one of the largest trail systems in the east. With nearly 40 trails and 1500 vertical feet of descent, the park has something to offer everyone. Downhill bike rentals are available at the Mountain Adventure Center.

Snowshoe E bike Tours

Snowshoe e bike tours combine exercise with relaxation. The tour will get you comfortable with this new mode of transportation and allow you to see hidden and interesting areas around Snowshoe Mountain. E bike tours are available through Snowshoe Mountain Resort.

Mower Basin

The Mower Basin which officially opened June 5, 2021, is composed of four linked loop trails each ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 miles, making possible rides of varying lengths and terrain types. The big sky vistas, open meadows, and Spruce forest make this a beautiful place to ride. Contact the US Forest Service for more information.
