The Best Season for a Snowshoe Mountain Wedding

When you’re planning an outdoor wedding one of the most important factors to consider is the weather. You can’t imagine a more beautiful place for a wedding ceremony than on top of a mountain like Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia.

The Best Season for Snowshoe Mountain Weddings

Besides the obvious concern over rain there should be equal consideration to extreme summer heat and strong winds. Somewhere between all of these extreme elements of weather that Mother Nature throws at us are some very beautiful days quite suitable for an exquisite Snowshoe Mountain wedding no matter where on the mountain you hold it.

Spring days during March and April are chock full of some beautiful days with a few chilly days with strong winds scattered in. May, June and July are probably the best days to schedule a wedding on Snowshoe Mountain before the heat of summer arrives. Keep in mind the later in the season you hold your wedding, the warmer it will be. By mid- to late September it will begin to cool off.

The Best Season for Snowshoe Mountain Weddings

Whether you’re planning a place to hold your ceremony, your reception, or need to make reservations for the bridal party and guests coming from out of town, First Tracts can set you up in style!

Making plans for a Snowshoe Mountain wedding takes time so start early and it’s anybody’s guess as to what the forecast holds for months into the future. The best advice is to make your plans for a mountain top wedding but have an alternate back-up plan just in case of inclement weather. That way you’re prepared no matter what Mother Nature offers up.

If you’re thinking about bringing your pet along on that ski vacation this year you’ll be pleased to know First Tracts has many Snowshoe Mountain pet friendly vacation rentals available for you to choose from. We know your pet is your companion and they enjoy traveling with you and your family.

Pet Friendly Rentals Available at Snowshoe Mountain

We have the following valuable tips to remember when traveling with your pets:

Pack enough food. If you’re not sure the food your pet regularly eats will be available at your destination then bring some from home. Vacation is not the time to change your pet’s diet.

Fresh water. Always carry fresh water, especially if you’re driving here from another place and times when you plan to be outdoors, like on the beach.

Essentials. Bring your pet’s bed, food and water dish, and favorite toys and treats.

ID Collar. Be sure your pet is wearing a collar with ID information on it. Having your dog chipped is always invaluable.

Pet Friendly Rentals Available at Snowshoe Mountain

Leashed. Keep your pet leashed at all times unless your rental comes with a fenced in yard.

Pet Carriers. Pets are safer and more comfortable when traveling in a pet carrier. Let them out from time to time to stretch their legs, relieve themselves and have some fresh water.

Carry a photo. Bring a photo of your pet along with you in case they slip away and go wandering away. A photograph will make it easier for others to help you find him.

We have many Snowshoe Mountain pet friendly vacation rentals for you to check out. Our website provides a listing of these homes for you to browse through at your convenience.

The Backstory of Snowshoe Mountain

Snowshoe Mountain first opened to the public on December 19, 1974. The opening attracted some 26,000 skiers with Cupp Run Slope giving Snowshoe a vertical drop of over 1500 feet. The land on which Snowshoe now stands had previously been home to loggers and railroaders.

In those days, the only buildings were the Shaver’s Center, the old pump house, a water treatment plant, and dorms for employees. There weren’t even accommodations available where guests could stay and the closest lodgings were over 40 minutes away in Marlinton!

The Backstory of Snowshoe Mountain

Today the village has just about everything you could possibly want for a comfortable and fun-filled stay at any time of the year.

Covering a total area of 11,000 acres in the Appalachian Mountain Range, Snowshoe Mountain is the second highest point in the state at 4,848’ elevation. It was named as one of the top 20 ski resorts in the east by Ski Magazine in 2016.

Snowshoe Mountain provides terrific outdoor winter recreation, gourmet dining, shopping, wedding and convention areas.

Winter Weather is Here!

For the first time this season, Snowshoe Mountain is enjoying a fresh, new blanket of natural snow. This came about as colder temperatures approached the mountain late last evening. To make things better, precipitation is expected to continue throughout the day! The slopes are now able to receive natural and artificial snow, making the skiing that much more entertaining.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 30’s-40’s range throughout the week, allowing the winter activities to be available once again.
